Check Your Smoke Detectors Monthly!
Working smoke detectors can
alert you to a fire in your home
in time for you to escape, even if
you are sleeping. Install smoke
detectors on every level of your
home, including the basement, and
in every sleeping area.
Test smoke detectors every month,
following the manufacturer's
directions, and replace batteries once
a year, or whenever a detector "chirps"
to signal low battery power. Never
"borrow" a smoke detector's battery
for another use - a disabled detector can't save your life! Replace detectors that are more than 10 years old!

On Wednesday, October 8, 2008, members of the Sandyston
Fire Department visited students at Sandyston-Walpack School.
Here Firefighter Brackney shows the students the different
types of uniforms you might see firemen wear like work clothes,
parade uniforms, fire police and firefighter uniforms.
After a brief video on fire safety and a question and answer period with M. Glenn Sumpan, Superintendent of Sandyston-Walpack School, students in grades K-6 visited the
firemen outside for a look at the fire trucks and the aparatus.
