Hometown Heroes

Sandyston Hometown Hero Banner Program

The Sandyston Hometown Hero Program was created for paying tribute and honoring soldiers who are originally from Sandyston or who currently reside from Sandyston and who are active military personnel or veterans that have served this nation in any branch of our Armed Forces.

A 24" x 38" banner can be purchased to be displayed on various lamp posts in Sandyston Township. The Hometown Hero Banners will be displayed from lamp posts or light posts with a photo of their soldier in uniform, their name and armed service branch placed underneath their photo.

The Hometown Hero Banners can remind all Sandyston residents and visitors passing through Sandyston of our hometown heroes that have served or are serving our country, and the sacrifices each have made, who deserve our respect and gratitude.

The 2025 Sussex County Farm & Horse Show/NJ State Fair theme was “Round Up The Red White & Blue”, and we chose to celebrate the "Hometown Hero Banner Program” proudly displaying an amazing 52 veterans and active servicemen and servicewomen who live in or who are from Sandyston!

This is a great opportunity to share the names and faces we have to date - in celebration of their selfless service! We hope this encourages you to contact us to order your banner.

We accept applications anytime for this banner program! Find the application by clicking the link to the right on this page.

Each year, the municipal displays can be found in the County Building…the blue steel building across from the Richard’s Building called the Sussex County Ernest M. Kosa County Building and showcases municipalities, county offices and departments, and local organizations. A lot of hard work into these displays with lots of useful information.

God Bless America! Thank you to all our Veterans, military, police, fire, dispatchers and first responders for your service to Sandyston, Sussex County and USA! We not only salute you today…. but every day!
