On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, the Sandyston Township Volunteer Fire Department was informed they were awarded a FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) through the Department of Homeland Security, in the amount of $58,761 plus our matching funds of $2,938.10 for a project total of $61,700 under operations and safety for the purchase of 8 new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) (valued at approximately $7,000 each) along with 19 facemasks (valued at approximately $300 each). These new SCBA will help equip our firefighters with the most up to date technology and safety while battling fires in our community as well as responding on mutual aid assignments to neighboring towns. On May 11, 2021, our volunteers took delivery of the equipment and they have been placed in service.
